Interim Associate Vice President for budgets and finance and Assistant Treasurer Scott Stachler will now serve as associate vice president and chief budget officer for Ball State, according to a faculty-wide email sent out by Sue Moore, chief strategy officer.

In his new role, Stachler will provide leadership and vision in the coordination and implementation of the Ball State’s budgetary policies and strategic budgeting processes, Moore said in the email.

His 18-year career with Ball State started in the bursar’s office and moved to the finance office 11 years ago.

Moore said Stachler "has played an instrumental role in moving the University from a centralized, incremental budget model to a more incentive-based budget model."

"This imperative in our strategic plan, 'Destination 2040: Our Flight Path,' will ensure that we align our resources with our top strategic priorities and promote student success, stimulate strategic growth, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and support academic excellence," she said.

Stachler has a "deep institutional knowledge of our University, positive relationships with University leaders across campus, and a comprehensive understanding of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s performance funding formula," Moore said.

He will begin in his new role May 1.
