Won't You Be My Neighbor

A free event located in downtown Muncie to help bring the neighborhoods of Muncie together while providing community engagement, arts and crafts and information about children's classes and volunteer events throughout town. Set up were booths with this information, food and demonstrations for children to understand what being "neighborly" truly means.

Rainy weather could not wash out the fun Saturday as the fourth annual Won’t You Be My Neighbor event hosted by WIPB was moved inside the downtown YMCA.

Originally planned to be held at Canan Commons, the original location, the event allowed community members to enjoy various activity tables, music and entertainment from local groups including Muncie Civic Theatre.

Visitors were able to try new things, sign up for events and see the classes offered throughout Muncie while discovering what it is like to be a neighbor in the community.

A main attraction among children at the event was the appearance of Daniel Tiger from the PBS TV show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”

WIPB plans to continue this event in an effort to further unite the Muncie community next year.
