As Ball State students begin to prepare for mid-term exams, several students had a bit of extra stress added to their plate.
For BSU senior, Kyleigh Forbes, she had her car stolen not once, but TWICE. Police were quick to believe that it was a user error until it happened again less than 48 hours later. She tells us that she was “uneasy” for a couple days after the incident. Forbes was unaware if she or the car was being targeted.
Car break-ins and thefts have been common on and around campus this semester. Muncie Police Department reported nearly 1,000 thefts this year.
“We see them in the off-campus student neighborhoods,” says Ball State Chief of Police Duckham.
Duckham said that although break-ins are common, they can be prevented. He urges students to lock cars, park and areas that are well lit, and make sure all valuables are out of their car.
If you have any issues regarding car break-ins, please reach out to the police.
