The Muncie Police Department was dispatched to them 1000 block of West Rex Street around 11 a.m. Monday after an armed robbery.
A Ball State Alert was issued around 11:25 a.m. advising Muncie police were investigating a strong-armed robbery.
Muncie police arrested Vincent Coleman, 20, of Muncie, and preliminary charged him with robbery, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness — armed with a deadly weapon.
In a probable cause affidavit, the victim said $400 and a handgun were taken during the incident.
The victim said he was getting a ride from two other people when they said they needed to get Coleman first. Once they picked up Coleman, the group went to a nearby alley so one of the suspects could look at victim’s gun to see if they wanted to purchase it.
That’s when one of the suspects loaded a round into the gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim then tried to grab the gun and point it back at the suspect in self-defense, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Coleman then exited the vehicle and struck the victim in the forehead with another handgun.
Police said inn the affidavit that it left the victim with “a large knot on his forehead, just above his left eye,” and caused him to have a bloody nose.
Another suspect got out of the vehicle and took the victim’s wallet. The suspects then left the scene.
An all clear alert was issued by Ball State around 11:40 a.m.
Coleman was being held in the Delaware County Jail on a $45,000 bond.
