A registered sex offender was arrested Monday evening after he departed his south side home intoxicated and headed north to “talk to god.”
Muncie police were called to the area of Burris Laboratory School and Saint Mary’s School around 7:21 p.m. Monday on reports of an intoxicated subject stumbling around.
Corey Glass, 33, of Muncie, was preliminary charged with sex offender; failure to possess ID, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Because Glass is a registered sex offender, he is supposed to carry his Indiana identification card on him but, when police asked Glass for it, he did not have it.
Police said in a probable cause affidavit that he seemed intoxociated and Glass admitted to drinking before leaving to “visit the Catholic church and talk to God.”
Glass was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital to receive a jail clearance, which is required if a subject is intoxicated or needs medical attention before being booked into jail.
While at the hospital and the jail, Glass “screamed and yelled” at nurses and officers.
Glass is being held in the Delaware County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
