In the first home match of the season, Ball State men’s tennis beat Eastern Illinois, 6-1.
In the doubles matches, the Cardinals were able to get the point, using a sweep. Freshman Thibault De Negri and junior Nemanja Guzina were able to beat sophomore Freddie O’Brien and senior Trent Reiman in Flight 1 6-2. In Flight 3, freshman Chris Adams and junior Tom Carney paired up to beat senior Jared Woodson and freshman Kaisei Kuroki (6-1).
De Negri was able to preserve that same intensity that he had in doubles and faced Trent Reiman in Flight 3 singles. De Negri beat Reiman in two sets (6-3, 6-0). Adams was able to beat senior Grant Reiman also in two sets (6-4, 6-1).
The final match that stood out was freshman Bryce Bonin facing off against sophomore Gage Kingsmith. Bonin was able to take the first set (6-3) and never looked back and won the second set, 6-2.
The Cardinals will be back at Northwest YMCA tomorrow facing off another Ohio Valley Conference team in Belmont. The match starts at 1 p.m.
