New technologies and discoveries have changed archaeologist's understanding of dinosaurs, and now children can experience their findings through "Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas" at Minnetrista.
The exhibit explores the continued investigation of dinosaurs’ movements and behaviors, as well as what they looked like. Casts of dinosaur bones, touchable fossil models and video animations allow for an interactive experience while learning about these prehistoric animals.
“Visitors can see a side-by-side comparison of a life-size Protoceratops skeleton and fleshed-out model,” said Rebecca Gilliam, vice president of visitor experience at Minnetrista.
According to the American Museum of Natural History’s website, this exhibit, which was curated by Mark A. Norell, chair and macaulay curator of the Division of Paleontology at the museum, was once part of its museum from May 2005 to June 2006.
As the exhibit now travels around the US, Minnetrista was able to rent it from the museum until June 29, 2018.
“Minnetrista is interested in creating incredible visitor experiences,” Gilliam said. “I think this exhibit should be fun, interesting and educational. It provides a destination for local families to spend time together.”
While an opening celebration for the "Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas" exhibit will be hosted from 6-8 p.m on Feb. 8, it will be available to community members to enjoy starting Saturday.
