The Daily News staff recently took home five awards, one of which was a first-place award, at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association-Hoosier State Press Association College Division Contest.
The competition highlighted some of the best works in student media, giving each college or university in Indiana the opportunity to submit one entry in each of the five categories: news, features, editorial/opinion, photo and sports.
1st-place winner:
Sports — "A greater role: Gueye's game" by Elizabeth Wyman.
2nd-place winners:
Features — "Sophomore to leave school, become religious sister" by Carli Scalf.
Photo — "Not Our President Protest" by Kara Berg, Reagan Allen, Samantha Brammer and Stephanie Amador.
Editorial — "OUR VIEW: With a new president, Ball State must become transparent" by the 2016-17 Daily News editorial board.
3rd-place winners:
News — "Humans vs. Zombies player sparks gun scare on campus" by Allie Kirkman and Casey Smith.
