Ball State got off to a hot start to move to its sixth straight win, beating Butler 87-75 on Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals started the game shooting 62.1 percent from the field and 60 percent from behind the three-point line in the first half giving them a 53-39 halftime advantage over the Bulldogs.

Ball State slowed down throughout the game but continued to shoot the ball well the rest of the game finishing 49.1 percent from the field and 60 percent from behind the arch.

“It was a heck of a college basketball game,” head coach Brady Sallee said. “I think the tempo was really good we were up and down had to be a lot of fun to watch.”

The Cardinals found a way to make the scoring a team effort as four manage to get in the double-digits.

Senior forward Moriah Monaco lead Ball State with 23 points shooting 8-for-13 from the field while knocking down 2-of-3 threes.

“That was all my teammates getting all those literally great screens,” Monaco said.

Senior guard Frannie Frazier had 17 points and junior guard Carmen Grande and junior guard Jasmin Samz added 15.

Grande also lead the team in assists dishing out 9 and freshman forward Oshlyn Brown lead the team in rebounds grabbing 10.

“I just thought it was everything I hoped it would be,” Sallee said. “Jeez, we put 87 on the board.”

The Bulldogs played a physical game and sent the Cardinals to the line frequently but the Cardinals were able to take advantage knocking down 24-of-28.

Ball State also won the points in the paint battle scoring 30 points down low.

Next for Ball State is Purdue on Monday at 7 p.m. in West Lafayette.
