Funding for free feminine hygiene products in residence halls is no longer bookmarked in the Student Government Association’s budget for this academic year.

During her report to SGA Senate Oct. 19, treasurer Kaia Thompson announced the $600 previously allocated to providing “women’s tampons,” according to the budget approved in September, would be moved into discretionary funds.

This comes after the student services committee announced last month it would continue researching how feasible tampons in residence halls would be and would concurrently try to get donations supporting it.

Thompson said in her report tampons in residence halls “is not something SGA can fund” right now and asked for legislation to be passed supporting it, in hopes it can be adequately funded later in the academic year.
