Ball State women's golf was lead by sophomore Manon Tounalom today, as she carried the Cardinals through the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
Tounalom concluded the tournament in a tie for 36th place individually, after recording four birdies in the first day of play (-1). She closed out the second day of the tournament 14 over par and was among the top ten at even par through two rounds before falling back into third.
The Cardinals struggled early, finishing tied for 11th place after the first 18 holes. Ball State, however, was able to rebound on Saturday as they finished the tournament in a 15th place tie with Illinois State.
Ball State tallied an overall score of 951. No. 27 Notre Dame won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 827, to put them eight over par. Wisconsin (+12) finished second and Penn State (+16) followed in third.
The event featured 11 teams rated among the top 115 in the Golfweek national rankings.
Other contributors were junior Sydney Anderson and freshman Liz Kim, who both shot 25 over par. Senior Morgan Nadaline (+30) and freshman Reece Malapit (+33) rounded out the Cardinals performance in Kentucky.
The women’s golf team will close out its fall schedule in Kentucky at the Cardinal Cup on Oct. 21-22.
