The Ball State Cardinals (10-6, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) dropped its first conference game of the season on Thursday night, falling to the Toledo Rockets (6-9, 1-2 MAC) on the road 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-16).
Junior outside hitter Brooklyn Goodsel led the Cardinals in kills with 11. Sydnee Vandbeek had nine and Jessica Lindsey added seven. Toledo was led in kills by Saige Thomas with 15.
Sophomore setter Amber Seaman put together another good night for Ball State, tied for a game-high 35 assists. She also had 12 digs for the Cardinals. Sophomore defensive specialist Kate Avila led Ball State with 20 digs.
Next up, the Cardinals come back to Worthen Arena to play their first conference game at home against Buffalo on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
