Muncie police have made an arrest in connection to the standoff shooting on Friday.
Kenan Fortune Abraman, also known as Rodney Patterson, 56, Muncie, was arrested on Saturday around 2 a.m. and is preliminary charged with attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
Muncie Police and Delaware County EMS were dispatched late Friday evening for a shooting at Acorn Apartments at 1535 W. 13th St. Apartment 5, according to the Delaware County EMS logs.
Police responded to the scene and surrounded to apartment where Abraman was believed to be. After Abraman would not come out of the building, the Muncie SWAT team and negotiators were called to the scene.
After a gunshot was heard from the building, police made entry to locate any more possible victims and to find out if the suspect shot himself.
Dispatch confirmed one person was shot. The victim was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time.
Upon making entry, police located Abraman with a 9 mm handgun in his pocket, a 9 mm handgun holstered to his hip and a large knife on him. Abraman refused to show his hands to police.
The suspect was taken into custody and is now being questioned by the police.
Police interviewed several witnesses after the arrest was made. One witness said when talking to the victim earlier in the day, he believed the Abraman was “off his medication.”
