Community members will have the opportunity this weekend to dine with their dog and enjoy a brunch to benefit a local animal shelter.
On Sunday Vera Mae’s Bistro will host the ‘Bow Wow Bistro’ on from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are needed to attend, which cost $25. Funds will go to benefit Animal Rescue Fund, a shelter in Muncie that provides shelter, medical care to animals until they can find a home.
“We have three rescues dogs ourselves, and two of the three came from ARF,” said Kent Shuff, co-owner of Vera Mae’s. “We had become quite familiar and very good friends with Terri Panszi, the founder of ARF.”
Shuff, co-owner Steve Fennimore and Panszi talked about doing some type of food event to benefit ARF several years ago.
“Finally, about five months ago, we were like OK we need to get this on the calendar and make it happen,” Shuff said.
Vera Mae’s will be offering a special brunch menu, as well as a menu for the dogs. Scout and Zoe’s will also be providing gift bags for the dogs which will include water, a water bowl, and snacks.
“People think that they have to bring a pet and that is certainly not the case,” Shuff said.
To purchase tickets, call Vera Mae’s at 765-747-4941 and the event will max out at 125 tickets and 75 dogs.
