A Virginia man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 69 Wednesday evening.
Matthew R. Smith, 30, Waynesboro, was pronounced dead at the scene at the scene of the accident, which took place in the interstate's northbound lanes near the 238-mile marker, about three miles south of the Ind. 332 interchange, according to The Star Press.
The crash was reported at 7:21 p.m.
Deputy Coroner James Clevenger was called to the accident and said Smith died as a result of a blunt-force trauma and head injuries.
Smith’s wife and two children were also involved in the accident and were taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. The unidentified driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
