Ball State football head coach Mike Neu announced several changes to his staff Monday.
Former Indianapolis Colts player Kyle DeVan adds assistant head coach to his duties. The second-year coach will also continue his role as the Cardinals' offensive line coach.
Linebackers coach Johnny Curtis takes over as defensive run game coordinator, as well as continuing his previous role.
"For our football program to get to the level where we are competing for MAC championships on a yearly basis, we need the right staff in place at Ball State," Neu said in a press release. "Both Kyle and Johnny have done a tremendous job since joining our team and deserve added roles."
Neu is also moving around his on-field graduate assistants.
Shawn Chaffee will assist the linebackers after working with the defensive linemen last season. Cory Connolly, who worked with the defensive backs last season, takes over for Chaffee with the defensive line. Dean Petzing shifts from helping the wide receivers to the offensive line, while new addition Blair Cavanaugh replaces Petzing with the wide receivers.
Ball State opens its season Sept. 2 at Illinois.
