3 do-it-yourself planters for succulents

With spring finally here, you may want to spruce up your dorm or appartment with a few plants. Try one of these do-it-yourself succulent planters for a unique look.

Toy Animal Planter

What you need:

Plastic toy animal

Knife

Paint

Paintbrush

Rocks

Soil

Succulent

Water

Directions:

  1. Paint the toy animal and let it dry.

  2. Using the knife, cut a hole into the body of the animal.

  3. Fill the hole halfway with rocks and the rest of the way with dirt.

  4. Create a small in the soil hole with your finger and place the succulent there.

  5. Water the plant.


Mug Pot

What you need:

Mug

Rocks

Soil

Succulents

Water

Directions:

  1. Place rocks at the bottom of the mug. Fill it up ⅔ of the way.

  2. Fill the rest of the mug with dirt.

  3. Create a small hole with your finger. Place the succulent in the hole of dirt.

  4. Lay some prettier rocks around the succulent.

  5. Water the plant.


Recyclable Cat Planter

What you need:

Empty 2-liter bottle

Scissors

White paint

Sharpie

Paintbrush

Rocks

Soil

Succulents

Directions:

  1. Using a Sharpie, draw a line all the way around the bottle to cut with two triangle shapes. The line should be about four inches from the bottom of the bottle. This will be the top of your planter.

  2. Cut along the line.

  3. Paint the outside of the cut bottle white. Let it dry.

  4. Draw the face of the cat on the bottle with a Sharpie.

  5. Fill the planter ⅔ of the way up with rocks. Then, fill the rest of the mug with dirt.

  6. Create a small hole with your finger. Place the succulent in the hole of dirt.

  7. Lay some prettier rocks around the succulent.

  8. Water the plant.
