University police make several arrests over warm weekend

Over the warm and rainy weekend, the University Police Department was busy making several alcohol and narcotic arrests. 

A South Bend man was cited for possession of marijuana, hash oil and hashish after a traffic stop Friday. The arrest came after a UPD officer pulled the individual's car over for a traffic stop shortly before 5 p.m. at the 2400 block of West Bethel Avenue.

On Saturday, UPD issued a citation to a Fort Wayne man for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage around 7 p.m. near West Riverside and North New York Avenues. 

University police officers conducted another a traffic stop at 1:39 a.m. in the area of West North Dicks Street. Officers arrested Jared Blue of Muncie for operating a vehicle with an a blood alcohol level of .08 or more. 

On Sunday, UPD officers then issued two citations for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage less than 15 minutes apart. 

An Indianapolis man was issued a citation at 2:30 a.m. at the 1500 block of North McKinley Avenue. Less than 15 minutes later, officers responded to the 2000 block. of West Riverside Avenue where officers issued another Indianapolis man the same citation.

University police issued one more citation for possession of marijuana, hash oil and hashish during a traffic stop for improper headlights on Sunday night. The Indianapolis man was issued the citation shortly after 9:30 p.m. near West Carson Street and North Linden Street.
