Ball State men’s swimming and diving placed third out of six teams at the Eastern Michigan University Invitational over the weekend with 732 points.
In the first session, the team of freshman Chase Jackson, sophomore Cullen Tyler, seniors Tanner Barton and Austin Green placed fourth in 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:35.91
In the 100 Butterfly, Barton finished seventh with a season best time of 51.09. Teammates senior Bradley Ridge, freshman Ben Andrew,and sophomore Alec Tuthill placed eighth, ninth and tenth.
After the first session, the team was still in second place with 517.5 points.
In the second session, the team of sophomore Zach Reichle, freshman Ben Andrew, seniors Bradley Ridge and Green placed fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:25.07.
In the 500 Freestyle, junior Isaac Walling placed eighth out of 15 dropping ten seconds (4:45.31) from his seed time (4:55.80). Senior JD Middleton and freshman Jack Luddy placed 10th and 15th.
In the 400 Freestyle Relay, the team of Jackson, Reichle, Barton and Green placed fourth, dropping six seconds (3:30.46) from their seed time (3:36.48).
On the boards, sophomore Lane Sawyer placed eighth with a season best score of 221.35 points. Sophomore Gabe Dean and junior Jeremy Taylor finished in 10th and 11th.
The team will compete again Jan. 6 when they face IUPUI and Xavier University in a tri-meet at IUPUI. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
