While you were sitting at Bracken this weekend, cramming for your exams this week, your friends were at home. They were enjoying time with their family, eating a warm, home cooked meal and enjoying their Thanksgiving break.
This is because Ball State has classes scheduled on Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
As I walked around my residence hall this weekend, I couldn't help but notice how quiet it already was. Some people have decided to skip their classes this week and go home early.
Most of us would leave Friday after our last class, some Thursday night, and that would give us an extra four days for break.
Some people like myself, have not been home since Fall Break. I have been wanting to go home for a long time now to visit my friends and family. Having those four extra days would mean the world to me.
But, because classes are scheduled and my classes on Monday and Tuesday are mandatory, I don’t have the luxury to do that. And I know I'm not alone on this. Some other Ball State students took to twitter to express their frustration.
So, Ball State, I'm sure that you want it to be Thanksgiving Break just as much as most of us. So why, why on this beautiful world, did you have to schedule classes on Monday and Tuesday?
Indiana University, and hundreds of other schools out of state, all do not have classes scheduled this week. We would have all loved to be able to see our friends this past weekend.
And not to mention, those who are taking the bus home or flying home, having those four extra days would be much appreciated, considering travel times.
I am sure that there is a reason for the extra two days of classes, but with all of this considered (not even mentioning the amount of money you would save), I have one question for you, where is the logic?
