For the third year, Muncie Downtown Development Partnership and the Muncie Parks Department are hosting Foodie Fridays.
This year, Foodie Fridays are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through August at Canan Commons.
The free event invites community members to spend their lunch time relaxing in the park with family and friends while enjoying weekly entertainment and activities for the kids.
Live music entertainment and children's activities are different every week.
This Foodie Friday, July 1, will feature the The Shamaniacs.
Upcoming entertainment includes Jake Hendershot on July 8, Married Folks on July 15 and Chad Nordoff on July 22.
In addition to the concerts and entertainment, attendees have the option to bring their own food, purchase from three of the on-site food truck vendors or get lunch to go from some of the downtown eateries.
The food truck vendors will be available each week and will rotate throughout the summer. Participants can check out the Downtown Muncie Facebook page for each week's vendors.
Cheryl Crowder, events director of Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, said the Foodie Fridays events are perfect for everyone.
“I think it's super important to invite people downtown, and this is one of the ways we get to do that,” Crowder said. “We are a neighborhood for everybody; even though you might not be into everything we do downtown, I promise when you are here you will find that we do offer something that you love.”
Canan Commons is located in the 500 block of south Walnut Street near the roundabout and across the street from the YMCA and Muncie Music Center. Street parking and public parking lots are available throughout downtown.
