Cardinals finish with 15 career-best performances in Ball State Challenge

Ball State track and field finished the Ball State Challenge with 16 top-five finishes and 15 career-best performances.

Cardinal athletes also won three events and finished with a 5-2 dual record. The team won against Bowling Green (95-61), Butler (127-36), IPFW (113-57), Wright State (111-56) and Xavier (113-45) while losing to Miami (110-75) and Toledo (97-88).

The 4x100m relay team of sophomore Anna-Kay West, freshman Peyton Stewart, freshman Amber McGee and freshman Jazmin Smith won with a time of 47.58.

Stewart also won the 100m dash with a career-best 11.80 time. Ball State also won the 4x400m relay. McGee, junior Olivia Ashba, senior Becca Kropf and sophomore Gabby Sims combined for a time of 3:57.89.

At noon, Sal Impellitteri won the one-mile alumni race with a time of 5:17.26.

The Cardinals compete next weekend in the Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
