April 9 - vs. Western Michigan - 7-2 (W)

April 10 - vs. Western Michigan - 21-1 (W)

After a 4-0 week and a dominating three-game home sweep against Western Michigan over the weekend, the Mid-American Conference honored the Ball State baseball team's performance.

Junior Caleb Stayton was named MAC West Division Player of the Week for his efforts at the plate, and redshirt junior Kevin Marnon was awarded MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week.

Stayton paced the Cardinals' offense last week, going 11-17 over the four-game home stand. He went 5-6 in a 21-1 win over Western Michigan April 10, hitting his first career triple and driving in six runs. In the second game of the doubleheader, he was 4-5 at the plate with a three-run home run.

Stayton is hitting .400 on the season. He leads the team with seven home runs and 48 RBIs, which is more than any Ball State player had all last year.

To go along with an offense that scored 46 runs in four games last week, the Ball State pitching staff only allowed 10 runs.

Marnon started the first game against Western Michigan April 10, going seven innings and picking up his fifth quality start of the season. The Broncos hit .160 against Marnon, only tallying four singles while striking out five times against the 6-foot, 7-inch lefty.

It was Marnon's second MAC West Pitcher of the Week award this season.

Ball State is 21-12 this season and sits near the top of the MAC West with a 7-2 league record. The Cardinals will return to action April 13 at Indiana University before traveling to Central Michigan for a three-game series.
