The Council of Religious Advisers is organizing a discussion about the practice of faith in the work environment.

According to the “Faith at Work” event Facebook page, Ball State alumnus Wil Davis is the co-founder of Ontario Systems and the president of the Ball State Innovation Corporation. He will discuss the principles and practices of applying faith at work.

Sarah Striebich is the secretary and a religious adviser for the council.

“[Davis] is an incredible speaker and has a lot of great information to share just about leadership in general,” Striebich said.

The discussion is applicable to all faith backgrounds and for people who do not identify with a specific religion, she said. People can understand and utilize concepts on how to be a service leader.

“To be a good leader is to be at the service of those we are leading,” Striebich said.

Students will also learn how to incorporate their faith and values into their daily routine.

“Students are going to take away an example of a prominent leader within our community who has put his faith into action,” Striebich said.

She said many students get involved in religious communities outside the university and it creates the notion faith is separated from daily life.

“Having this kind of opportunity, we hope, is going to encourage students to start talking about, 'How can I bring in my faith to my everyday life?' especially in the work place,” she said.

According to Davis’ website, he graduated magna cum laude with honors from Ball State in 1975. He started his career as an accounting supervisor at Mutual Federal Savings Bank.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. in Cooper Science Building Room 188. It is free and open to the public.
