The CEO of Salesforce's Marketing Cloud will be the speaker at the Spring Commencement on May 7.
Scott McCorkle is a 1989 graduate of Ball State with a bachelor's degree in computer science, and his father and brother are also alumni. He got his master's of business administration from Indiana University.
McCorkle was appointed as CEO in 2014. He also co-founded Mezzia, Inc., served as vice president of International Business Machines Corporation and was vice president and general manager of Software Artistry.
He started his career at BorgWarner Automotive's Technology Research Center where he developed robotic systems.
“We have closely followed the career of Scott McCorkle as he rose through the ranks to become one of the most influential executives in Indiana’s fast-growing technology sector,” said Acting President Terry King. “His passion for innovative products and technology, combined with his dedication to customer success, has been instrumental in building one of the world’s most powerful one-to-one digital marketing platforms.”
The university brings successful alumni to speak at its new graduates each year. In 2015, it was John "Papa John" Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John's pizza.
