Ball State's Advertising Federation places 1st in district

The Ball State chapter of the American Advertising Federation will be moving onto semi-nationals after placing first in the district at the National Student Advertising Competition. More than 40 students had a hand in getting first place on April 15. PHOTO PROVIDED BY MICHELLE O'MALLEY


At semi-nationals, the team will compete for the chance to move on to Nationals in Anaheim, Calif.

"I am incredibly proud of this Ball State NSAC team and how much they have learned in this process," Michelle O'Malley, an AAF advisor, said in a press release. "The students who have participated in this program have garnered a unique look at the advertising, graphic design and marketing fields."

More than 40 students helped take the title at the competition on April 15, and their success continues a winning Ball State tradition. In 2010, the club placed ninth nationally out of around 200 AAF clubs.

The AAF partners with a major corporate client to challenge the chapters to make an integrated marketing campaign for a specific product, service or brand. This year, the client was Snapple. The students had to research the product and identify potential problem areas and collaborate to make an integrated marketing campaign for the company.
