The beers that land on the shelf at the liquor store or go on tap at bars go through a long process before the beer ends up in the hands of consumers. The brew master chooses the different types of malts or hops that create the unique flavors and different styles of beer. David Colt, Sun King Brewery co-founder, simplified the process in just a few steps: “Take cereal grains, put them in a pot with warm water, extract the liquid from the grain, boil it, add hops, cool it down, ferment and drink.” The graphic below illustrates the process that Sun King, a brewery in Indianapolis, uses to create some of its famous brews.
