The Cardinals went 4-8 over Spring Break, which started off with two wins in the first nine games. These included a 14-1 win against Stony Brook and 3-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.

Ball State played top-ranked opponents like No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 25 University of Central Florida during the break. The Cardinals finished the break on a high-note, winning two of its last three games.

“It was a tough week,” head coach Megan Ciolli Bartlett said. “We saw some fabulous teams, but it was a good learning experience for the team. They adjusted well and continue to be resilient.”

Senior pitcher Nicole Steinbach led the charge for Ball State, as she had three of the four Cardinal wins. All three wins came in complete-game fashion, including an eight-inning, one earned run outing against Florida Gulf Coast. She leads the team in earned run average (3.37), wins (9) and innings pitched (87.1).

Ball State's offense was also led at the plate by two senior infielders — Selena Reyna, who went 7-12 (.583) with five runs batted in, and Emily Dabkowski, who went 6-12 (.500) with 11 RBIs.

Ball State's final weekend of non-conference play will be in College Park, Md. The Cardinals won its first game against the University of Massachusetts 2-0.
