The Cardinals (14-14) have yet to play a home game this season, and will face off against the evenly matched Bulldogs (16-12).
Neither team has played a conference game this season, and despite Ball State's lower record, the team sits higher in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Rating Percentage Index (RPI) rankings. Ball State comes in at No. 112 while Butler sits at No. 148.
This will be the Cardinals' first in-state game of the season as they have already played in five other states throughout this season, including Alabama, Texas, Kentucky, Florida and Maryland.
Maryland was where Ball State played its last tournament as the team went 2-0 in the Maryland Tournament. Wins for Ball State came over Boston and Massachusetts, pushing the team's winning streak to three.
The game will be at 4 p.m. on March 23 at the Butler Softball Field in Indianapolis.
