Three Greek Life organizations are coming together to promote empowerment for women through a program that focuses on educational, professional and personal knowledge.

Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Omega and Alpha Phi will be hosting Women 2 Women March 20 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center.

“The purpose of the event is to bring women to a professional setting and empower them in leadership, relationships and the media,” said Zachariah Brumfield, Alpha Phi Omega pledge educator. “What we are hoping to do is reach out to the women from the Ball State community and unify them together.”

The program will feature three different classes, lunch and speakers.

The speakers of the event will feature Nicole Hendricks, instructor of public relations and journalism, Courtney Jarrett, associate director of disability services and Elizabeth Peeler, health educator.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Monique Armstrong, executive director of Motivate Our Minds, an academic support organization in Muncie that works to provide youth in the community with the tools to excel educationally, culturally and socially and to inspire a lifelong desire for learning, according to motivateourminds.org.

Jenise Banks, Alpha Phi Omega vice president of service, said the students who will be at the conference are expected to be actively involved in the workshops.

"They are expected to voice their opinions on sensitive topics on women in leadership, women in relationships and women in media," Banks said. "It is our hope that the students who attend will leave with a better understand of how to accomplish both their career and scholastic goals and their lives will have been impacted for the better."

One of the goals of the program is to encourage unification of all woman across campus to create a large support system, Brumfield said.

“It is important for the women to get involved so they can create a community to empower other women to accomplish their goals, while feeling supported by their fellow women,” Brumfield said.

Female students need to register to participate in the event by March 17.

This event will also be cosponsored by Black Student Association, Student Government Association, the Multicultural Center and University Program Board.
