QUAD TALK: How students stay focused in final stretch of semester

Classes are in full swing again, and Ball State doesn’t get a break until summer. With only about six weeks left before the semester ends, it’s time to get down to business.

Some students may be feeling the pressure, but there are easy ways to unwind. Whether it’s spending time with your friends or just simply squeezing in a quick nap between classes, it’s important to de-stress and focus.

Q: How do you feel about the fact that we don’t have another break coming up?

A: "It sucks that there isn’t one last break. I feel like we should at least get a three-day weekend or something to give us a little break.” – Kiersten Patterson, a freshman psychology major

A: "Honestly, I don’t even think about it. … As you progress in school, you don’t notice as much. I’m just taking it one day at a time. It seems like we get out earlier than most schools anyway.” – Delisa Plummer, a junior hospitality pre-manamgent major

A: “It sucks that we don’t have a break, but I’ve been trying to find fun things to do to stay occupied.” – Evan Helton, a freshman

Q: What are some ways you will push through these last few weeks?

A: “I’ll probably hang out with my friends a little more before break since I won’t see them over the summer. That’ll help get me through. I’m excited about the Late Nite Carnival, and I’m going to try to make it to a few baseball games too.” – Plummer

A: “I’m trying to keep my grades up. I like to go home on weekends because I live close by. I like to get comfortable in my dorm, put on some music and study a bit.” – Helton
