Many are looking forward to soaking up some sun in warmer states or countries during spring break, but three organizations are utilizing the sun right here in Muncie.
Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie, and Muncie Public Library’s Kennedy Branch have all installed new solar panel technology at their buildings. Cornerstone’s renovations also included new LED lighting fixtures and a new HVAC system which Rob Jordan, building superintendent, says will significantly cut down on utility costs.
While Cornerstone used a private sponsorship to pay for the upgrade, the other two organizations received a special grant to offset costs of materials and installation.
Other Muncie organizations to join the list of solar power users this year include ecoREHAB, the Youth Opportunity Center, and Shaffer Chapel.
