The Indianapolis Colts announced that they have waived former Ball State linebacker Jonathan Newsome from the team roster.
He was arrested on a marijuana possession charge last week.
Newsome, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, thanked the Colts organization via Twitter for the opportunity.
I would like to thank Coach Pagano, Ryan Grigson, Jim Irsay and the entire Colts organization for the opportunity of a life time.

Signed in 2014, Newsome received a $178,108 signing bonus to go along with his four-year, nearly $2.4 million contract.
Newsome spent two seasons with the Colts. He led the team in sacks with 6.5 during his rookie season, but only recorded 19 tackles and one sack this year.
He was a 2013 Mid-American Conference First Team selection at Ball State and picked up 16.5 sacks in two years with the Cardinals.
