Just more than a week into his new job, Ball State head football coach Mike Neu has made several decisions regarding his coaching staff.
Neu decided to start by checking in with the football staff that remained after Pete Lembo’s left for Maryland.
After one phone conversation, Neu decided to keep Joey Lynch, who has been coaching at Ball State since 2009.
Just like Neu, Lynch was also a former quarterback at Ball State University – each of them are in the top 10 lists for career passing yards, passes attempted, passes completed, pass completion percentage and touchdown passes.
On top of that, Neu selected Louisiana native Johnny Curtis as the new linebackers and special teams coach.

The defense is expected to get a change of pace as well. There have been speculations that Neu will hire Tim Daoust as the new defensive coordinator.
Daoust has been at Syracuse University since 2011 working with the defensive line and defensive ends as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator during his time.
Prior to that, Daoust bounced around several Mid-American Conference schools since 2002. Some of the schools featured in his coaching résumé are Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Central Michigan.
