The recent reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TNMT) is now getting a sequel, according to the newest trailer released by Paramount Studios. Titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, the trailer sports the same computer-generated animation of the titular turtles as the first. The movie is set for a release date of June 3, 2016.
The newest film is to be directed by Dave Green, notable for Earth To Echo. The movie also features series favorites such as Rocksteady and Bebop, characters that both appeared in the original 1987 cartoon. Whether this film will be better or worse is, of course, entirely subjective, but it’s plain that Michael Bay will yet again be involved with producing the film. How much involvement, artistic control and general power he has over the project remains to be seen.
The first film, directed by Jonathan Liebesman, was produced by Michael Bay. Previously, Bay had directed the Transformers movies of the last few years. They, like the last TMNT film, were critically panned, but were high-grossing at the box office.
