The U.S. Navy Band Commodores will perform at John R. Emens Auditorium to celebrate Veterans Day.
The band is performing on 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Tickets are required, but the event is free and open to the public.
The ensemble commonly performs to honor United States veterans. According to the band's website, it has performed at other public concerts as well as on national concert tours, jazz education classes and for different military and civilian government officials across the nation.
Its music is described as "an eclectic mix of traditional big band music, exciting jazz vocal arrangements as well as fresh new instrumental music written specifically for the Commodores of today" on Ball State's calendar of events.
The Commodores are made up of 18 Navy band members and one chief musical director, Robert Holmes. The ensemble includes several horn players, rhythm and one vocalist.
The U.S. Navy Band, based in Washington, D.C., includes several other bands that tour and educate across the nation as well. According to their website, they are advocates for not only U.S. Veterans, but music education in schools.
