November marks the beginning of celebration for the Asian American Student Association as they host their month-long schedule of events.
The Asian American Student Association is a part of the Big 4 student organizations, the other three being Spectrum, Black Student Association and Latino Student Union. AASA works to promote diversity and cultural appreciation by providing opportunities for students to experience different types of backgrounds, cultures and people on campus, AASA President Sang Nguyen said.
“Everyone is welcome to participate in all of the events throughout the month,” Nguyen said. “Our goal with these is to create an atmosphere on campus where students can appreciate each other and all our different cultures.”
Water Painting
What to expect:
A teacher-led painting session where students can learn and create art with different Asian art techniques and styles.

Leaf Raking with Student Voluntary Services
What to expect:
AASA is partnering with the Student Voluntary Services to create teams of volunteers who will work to rake leaves not only on campus, but in the Muncie Community. Interested students should contact the AASA organization at ballstateaasa@gmail.com.

Justin Young
What to expect:
Justin Young will be performing a small concert, which is free to students. Young is a singer/songwriter popular with contemporary Hawaiian music and is currently touring with Colbie Caillat as the lead guitarist and backup singer.

Bowling Night
What to expect:
A time to socialize and hang out with the AASA. Bowling and pizza will be free to students at the event.
5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 23, Cardinal Lanes
Potluck
What to expect:
Students have the opportunity to learn about and sample small Asian culture cuisine, including Thai and Vietnamese dishes.
