Nintendo going back to the past with 'Wild Gunman' re-release

Marty McFly’s favorite 8-Bit game, Wild Gunman, is now available on the most recent iteration of Nintendo consoles. It was announced on October 21 as a European release, and the game is now on Nintendo’s e-store for the WiiU. Rather than play with the traditional Nintendo Zapper controller, users can play it with the standard Wii motion sensor. No news about its release in North America have surfaced from Nintendo of America.

Wild Gunman was popularized in an iconic scene in which McFly is in a retro 80’s diner (in the future) and picks up the game after two kids miraculously got it to work. In this scene, one of the children humorously comments, “You have to use your hands? That’s like a baby’s toy!”

Nintendo re-released the game as an obvious homage to the 80’s movie franchise. Yesterday was known as ‘Back to the Future day’ in recognition of the fact that Marty McFly traveled to October 21, 2015 in the second film. The movie made several predictions about the future, including a larger-than-life hologram of Jaws 19, as well as hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, and, apparently, hands-free gaming.
