Around 3 a.m. Oct. 4, the university issued an emergency notification warning students of a handgun near campus. University spokesperson Joan Todd said there are no updates at this time.
"Officers searched the area after receiving the call, and no suspects have been apprehended," Todd said.
The alert, which came in an email and text form, said the university received a report of two subjects with a handgun within the past 40 minutes around New York Avenue and Wayne Street.
The subjects were described as two black males in a dark vehicle, heading Northbound on New York Avenue.
