Every dog has his day in 'Home Free'

Home Free, a recently announced game on Kickstarter, joins the adventures of a dog running about in a procedurally generated city. Creator Kevin Cancienne states that the game has been in development for the past two years, and he’s proud of his work that he’s done so far. The game proudly boasts that no single playthrough is ever be the same. It’s raised $44,482, not far from its comparatively humble $50,000 goal. The Kickstarter can be viewed here.

“I've been working on Home Free for about two years now, and I'm very excited to show you where I've taken it so far. This project is the culmination of a lot of work and a bunch of crazy interests: procedural content, urbanism, quadrupedal locomotion, and dogs -- how they play, the stories we tell about them, and what makes them tick.”

Procedural generation, as featured in the game, is a popular staple of many successful titles, such as Binding of Isaac, Rogue Legacy, or Minecraft. It consists of randomly generated items or events occurring in a game that makes sure that the player never gets the same experience twice. It’s a new field that many games have taken creative use of, and now Home Free is added to that list.

The game will release in Fall 2016 on Mac and PC.
