'Ace Attorney' anime series to start airing next year

The long-running courtroom drama series Ace Attorney has grown quite a following since its English release in 2005. Many cite it as one of the first games to popularize the visual novel style of game here in the west. After five main entries to the series (and a sixth on the way), multiple spin-offs, manga adaptations, a live action movie, and even a musical, fans are finally going to see the hotshot rookie lawyer Phoenix Wright make his anime debut.

Nintendo Dream, a Japanese gaming magizine, originally made the announcement, based on a reveal at the Tokyo Game Show. The official Japanese Ace Attorney twitter also confirmed the anime's existence.

Yes, that tweet is still in Japanese, but roughly translated, it states that the first Ace Attorney anime will be broadcasting in April 2016, and to await more information. While there is likely to be more information released later this week at the Tokyo Game Show, right now almost nothing is known about it.

Fans are speculating that the series will be an adaptation of one of the manga series, judging by the artwork shown during the conference. That has yet to be confirmed or denied, but it is not a terribly far-fetched idea. For now, all we can do is wait for another announcement, or just wait it out until April to see for ourselves.
