While Pam and Tom Price are recovering from smoke inhalation after a house fire that occurred late last week, Hamilton Township Fire Chief Baty explains that the fire will continue to be under investigation for a while.
"Cause, origin and determination on any structure fire doesn't happen overnight," Baty said.
Along with the local fire department and arson investigators, the state fire marshall office must also work on an investigation because serious injury occurred, said Baty. Additionally, the home owners insurance must complete their own investigation.
"A fire of this magnitude, and the destruction that occurred, all causes have to be ruled out," he said. "Hopefully soon we'll have an answer."
Baty explains that while two or three firefighters physically rescued the Prices, he credits all emergency personnel for their ultimate survival.
"It appeared that no survivors would come out," Baty said. "The collective group: fire, police, EMS and the 911 dispatchers made this a story that we're talking about today, 'cause it could have been oh-so-much-different."
