For the first time, a Ball State fraternity has been given the Chapter Award of Distinction by the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
Phi Gamma Delta, also known as FIJI, received the award from the NIC April 19.
The Chapter Award of Distinction recognizes fraternity chapters who seek to educate others about the benefits of a fraternity experience and work to maintain a healthy relationship with their national organization, according to the NIC website.
Junior Jacob Cash, the president of FIJI in 2014, said being given this award means the chapter is excelling in comparison to other fraternities.
“Only ten chapters get this out of more than 6,100 chapters in North America,” Cash said. “It means that all the hard work that we put in over the last year has paid off.”
FIJI also won the Cheney Cup for being the most outstanding undergraduate chapter in 2014.
