Buffalo won't travel to Ball State for tennis, softball due to RFRA

In response to Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team cancelled its match against Ball State this weekend.

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order prohibiting state-funded or state-sponsored travel to Indiana this week. Executive Order #144 is meant to “promote fairness, protect the welfare of the citizens of the state of New York and combat discrimination.”

Employees and students at the University at Buffalo are prohibited from conducting any state-funded or state-sponsored travel to Indiana while this order is in effect.

Ball State head women's tennis coach Max Norris declined comment.

The Cardinals and Bulls were scheduled to play the women's tennis match on April 3 and two softball games on April 4 and 5. The teams are working to find a neutral site outside of the state to play the scheduled games.
