Ball State's fierce comeback in a six-run seventh inning led to an exciting 11-8 victory over South Dakota in the ninth inning.

Pitching gave up some key hits, as the Coyotes scored six of their runs in an explosive fourth inning.

Junior Nicole Steinbach came out after only three and two-thirds innings. She gave up three hits and five runs, while walking two and striking out three.

Junior Kelsey Schifferdecker was injured and removed from the game after coming in.

Sophomore Jocelyn Rivera got the win for the Cardinals, pitching the last five innings. She give up one hit and one run. She allowed two walks and had five strikeouts while shutting the Coyotes' offense down.

Offensively, Ball State was led by junior Emily Dabkowski. The second baseman was a single away from the cycle, her biggest hit being a three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning. She ended with four RBIs and scored three runs.

Senior Hanne Stuedemann went 2-4 with a double RBI and scored two runs. The Cardinals racked up 11 hits, seven of which came in the final four innings.

Ball State will look to carry its momentum as it takes on IUPUI Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
