The Ball State men's volleyball team lost its first match of the season Jan. 23, falling to Harvard on the road in three sets.
Coming into the match, the Cardinals were 4-0, climbing to No. 14 in the latest polls. The Crimson however, were 0-2 with only one set victory on the season.
The tightest set the Cardinals played was in the first, which they lost 19-25. They proceeded to drop the next two sets 14-25 and 17-25.
Statistically Ball State was outmatched in kills by Harvard (28-34), attack percentage (.122-.300), digs (26-44) and blocks (5.5-8).
There were few solid individual performances, but Matt Walsh had 7 kills, a solid .438 attack percentage and 2 blocks.
Libero David Ryan Vander Meer added 10 kills for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals take on Sacred Heart Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in Fairfield, Conn.
