Ball State ended its regular season with a loss as it fell to Miami at home by a score of 4-1.

The loss snapped the two-match home winning streak for the Cardinals, and marks the second consecutive year that the Redhawks have dealt the Cardinals with a loss.

The match was close after the first half, with Miami holding a 2-1 lead. The second half, however, was filled with many missed opportunities and defensive mistakes for the Cardinals.

“We didn’t play as strong defensively as we needed, and this is definitely going to be a focus for us as we head into the tournament,” head coach Craig Roberts said.

The loss pushes the Cardinals to 10-6-2 overall and 6-5 in the Mid-American Conference. It also pushes the Cardinals back to the 4th seed in the tournament.

Ball State will host Kent State (10-6-3; 5-4-2 MAC) in a rematch two weeks after the Cardinals shut out the Golden Flashes 1-0.

The match will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Briner Sports Complex.
