Rock the Halls County Fair
When: Saturday, 2 to 6 p.m.
Where: DeHority Beach
This year's Rock the Halls is packing the weekend with new activities dedicated to on-campus, Ball State students.
Saturday will feature mini-games — including skee-ball and corn hole—, cotton candy, snow cones and a mechanical bull as part of the County Fair day at DeHority Beach, hosted by the Residence Hall Association.
“It will definitely help people feel more comfortable, because it’s like social hour for everybody,” said Zach Toman, a freshman undecided major.
Some students also said campus events such as Rock the Halls help freshmen adjust to college life.
“We all come from different backgrounds and because of these events, you break out of the high school mentality that you’re only supposed to hang out with certain people,” freshman Dylan Bateson said.
Jared Wells, a DeHority resident and freshman public relations major, said the Rock the Halls events so far have showed him “how fun college really can be."
The RHA strives to give every student resident a voice in order to make the residence halls a more fun and safe living environment, according to their website.
Rob Mitton, a British international student and sophomore criminal justice major, said the weekend's events have given him opportunity to socialize with more people.
“If you’re looking to make new friends, then you should definitely check out Rock the Halls,” he said.
The County Fair event will begin at 2 p.m. and end at 6 p.m on Sept. 6.
