Sophomore Abbey Fiser and senior Nicole Pembleton each scored goals for the Ball State soccer team in a 2-2 overtime draw against Morehead State Aug. 31 at the Briner Sports Complex.
With less than two minutes left in the match, Ball State held a 2-1 lead, but Morehead State's Angela Black tied the score on an inbounds pass from teammate Jade Flory in the 89th minute.
Both teams had multiple chances to score in overtime, but neither side could push across the winning goal.
Ball State head coach Craig Roberts felt his team needed to play more consistently and not only in spurts.
“The girls are young still, and something we need to work on is closing out games,” Roberts said. “We did well with it early on, but now as we face tougher competition, what we need to work on is showing.”
Ball State’s next game is at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 5 when the team travels to Valparaiso, Ind., for a match against Valparaiso.
