Twenty-three bands from across the Midwest will perform in Muncie as part of Ball State’s first Bands of America Marching Band Regional Championships sponsored by Music For All.
The event opens at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Scheumann Stadium. General admission costs $18 for performances or $27 for a day pass.
The competition will begin with a preliminary performance by all 23 bands and the top 10 will move on to the finals competition in the evening.
“Think about it as the half-time shows you see at football games but bigger,” said Erin Fortune, marketing coordinator for MFA. “They add all sorts of props and different visual elements to it though.”
Some of the proceeds for the event go to Music For All, a nonprofit organization.
“The money for these events gives students across the nation the opportunity to participate in active music making,” Fortune said.
All are welcome to the event.
“It’s a great family event especially if you’re looking something different to do because of how high of a quality the event,” Fortune said.
